ESSAY COMPETITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Tibetan Writing is the soul of a nation and a torch which guide the way in darkness. For a country like Ukraine, after been occupied for hundred years they got independence through their writing effort. It is our writers' responsibility to present the proof of Tibet being occupied by Chinese through pen works.
In the past few years, many periodicals and newspapers have being published in our exile society. And we (Tibetan Writers Abroad PEN Centre) did not feel the important of publishing writing books, but in accordance of our (Executive Members—first batch) plans to improve writings by holding debates and writing competitions, announcement been made and many received in return, but been delayed for publishing.
So, we (present executive members' second batch) decided to hold a writing competition by announcing thorough our own newspaper, and writing competition is divided into three categories and they are; Poetry, Prose and Essay. And where the first holders will be prized with Rs.3000, Rs.2000 for the second position holders and Rs.1000 for the third position holders of respective categories and also special gifts with the title of Tibetan Writers Abroad PEN Centre will be issued.
The submitting deadline is 1st October, 2006 and original copies will not be returned back, they will be published thorough our website to the world.

International PEN Calls for Freedom of Speech in Tibet

The Tibetan Writers Abroad PEN Centre participated in the 73th International PEN Congress held from 4th-12th July in Dakar, Senegal. Two hundred writers from over 70 countries met to promote literature and to defend freedom of expression throughout the world. At the PEN Assembly the delegates, including 8 Chinese, unanimously passed the Tibet Resolution and openly supported PEN Tibet in its fight for freedom of expression for Tibetan writers in Tibet.    More>>

Ten-year sentence for Tibetan writer Mr. Dolma Kyab

Mr. Dolma Kyab, a young Tibetan writer, sentenced ten-years imprisonment for writing a manuscript, the restless Himalayas-Sao Dong de Ximalayashan, by Lhasa People's Intermediate Court on Sept 16th, 2005. He is serving his ten-years imprison life in Chushul Prison, Tibetan Autonomous Region (T.A.R).    More>>

Writing in a World Without Peace

The 72nd International P.E.N Congress was held from 22nd to 28th May 2006 in Berlin,Germany. Horst Kohler, Federal President of Germany welcomed more than 450 writers from PEN Centres in 144 countries around the world and Johano Strasser, President of German PEN Centre, emphasized on the theme of the 72nd International PEN Congress "Writing in a world without peace".    More>>

The 70th World Congress of the International PEN

Norway, Setember 04: The 70th World Congress of International PEN was held from 6th-12th September 2004 in Tromso, Norway.
